Critical Care Transports
In addition to standard 911 / emergency response, Washington County Ambulance District provides Critical Care Transport Services to the most seriously ill patients in our county and region.
Our team has received additional education in Critical Care Transport medicine beyond the standard EMS scope of practice.
The grand majority of the CCT Providers at WCAD hold national board certifications based upon their primary license (CCP-C, FP-C, CCRN, CTRN and/or CFRN).
We staff our CCT resource based on the request type.
We maintain the flexibility to add additional resources based on the needs of each patient, providing custom-tailored and individualized care.
For example, any intubated patient on a ventilator will have, at minimum, two CCT providers managing his or her treatment.
CCT Skills Include:
-
Delayed Sequence Intubation
-
Direct and Video Laryngoscopy
-
Surgical Airway Placement
-
Invasive & Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation
-
Multi-lead EKG Interpretation
-
Needle, Finger & Tube Thoracostomy
-
Invasive Line Monitoring
-
Central Venous Access Monitoring
-
Mid-Line Placement
-
Point of Care Ultrasound
-
Vasopressor Initiation & Titration
-
Blood Product Administration
Our CCT ambulances carry a diverse array of medications reserved for critically ill patients.
Our providers have the equipment and training to maintain nearly all medication infusions initiated by a sending facility.
