Non-Emergency Transports

911 emergency calls certainly make up the bulk of our responses, but a fair amount of our volume is also comprised of non-emergency medical transports.

Washington County Memorial Hospital serves a vital purpose in our community by offering emergency treatment and stabilization to our residents. However, when a patient is clinically stable, but requires a higher level of specialty care, Washington County Ambulance District provides non-emergency medical transportation to the hospital best equipped to treat a patient’s illness.

We also support our neighbors and maintain mutual aid agreements with bordering counties, enabling us to assist when they experience abnormally high call volumes.

We not only provide as-needed 911 service to nearby counties, but also respond to non-emergency transports from Parkland Health Center in St. Francois County and Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.

Our non-emergency transports frequently require continuous medical supervision and intervention. This may include vascular access monitoring, management of intravenous medications and infusions, and pain management. Our EMS Clinicians are trained and equipped to seamlessly bridge the gap between local, critical access hospitals and high-level specialty services commonly found in the St. Louis Metro area.
